More About Kiwi

Kiwi is a 7 year old New Zealand Huntaway, possibly crossed with a kelpie judging by those undecided ears. He is being re-homed through no fault of his own and only as a result of his owner’s bad health.

Kiwi currently lives with a very young baby and is very well behaved, he ignores cats on walks and is used to accepting family member’s dogs into his home for holidays and vice versa.

He is very happy soul who enjoys his walks and wants to engage with his handler. He does bark on lead when he sees another dog but it would appear this is more frustration than reactivity.

Despite his age, he has a very young demeanour and is very eager to learn new skills. He travels well in a car, is crate trained, housetrained and can be left. He will be a wonderful addition to any family and will make a lovely companion.

Kiwi does have hypothyroidism, it is well controlled and he has regular medication which we believe is relatively inexpensive. He is currently on a hypoallergenic diet and is taking Apoquel for a skin issue, however, this is under review with his vet as they don’t feel he needs it anymore.

He has had a few idiopathic seizures when he was younger but the vet does not think it is epilepsy.
