Arlo

Arlo is a clever boy who loves scratches, chasing you and playing tug of war. He is obedient has some sound training behind him and loves learning new tricks. Loves to sniff!

 

That said he is also a nervous boy and will show that by growling and lunging at other dogs out on walks when he feels uneasy. This began after he was approached by two off lead dogs while on a walk post neuter (18months) when he was still tender.

The owners health has been a struggle through pregnancy and ever since, following the birth of their child a year ago Arlo has not had the input he was accustomed to and is struggling with the, now mobile, child.

He does take himself out of the room to give himself space but he is uncomfortable.

He does have a nip history, he was showing all the right signs of not being comfortable with the handling by the visiting adults at the time, body language not acknowledged, growling not acknowledged so he ended up nipping and it did break the skin, but owner believes it was not his intention to do so.

However this could have been avoided if the adult had acted on Arlo’s signs.

As with his breed he has a tendency to want to chase/herd livestock, has not been exposed to small furies but reacts to cats on walks.

Owner firmly believes that with the right environment, consistent training and patience Arlo will make someone a great companion.

Assessor says he is a lovely dog who assessor feels would do well with a confident owner but would be best suited to a home without young children. Current owner has trained him to a good standard.
