Groot

Groot is a four-year-old kelpie who is being rehomed very reluctantly by his family through no fault of his own. Groot is a lovely, affectionate and cuddly boy that has lived peacefully with another dog for three years. He is very good with the smaller dog that he lives with and they both love to play fight and take it in terms to chase each other around the house and garden. Groot also loves his family, in particular the two young children, his happy place is to curl up on the sofa with them for a cuddle and just snooze.

 

Unfortunately, Groot was attacked by the dog that lives next door and has since become increasingly reactive towards dogs outside the home. This is not manageable for the family, particularly where they live and due to their situation.

Groot has only ever been a pet and we don’t know if he has the desire to work, however, it is possible that he maybe suited to living on a small holding as long as he is appropriately introduced to any other animals. He may also enjoy some sort of sport but will have to be trained.

 

Groot is an escape artist that can open doors and think nothing of jumping over a fence to take himself off for a wander. This is where problems have occurred as he will bark at dogs passing the house and jump over the fence. This is sadly as a direct result of his altercation with the neighboring dog.

Groot is neutered, vaccinated and has had some basic training. He travels well in the car and it’s okay to be left for short periods as long as his needs are met. He can also be wary of men.
